Salams and Hi, you all.
I know, I know... This blog of mine has been ignored for the longest time. My apologies.
Even though I have been quiet on the blogging front, I've been quite active FB-ing. And those who are my FB friends have been getting updates on what the family and I have been up to for the last 3 weeks or so, which has been makan, makan, dan makan lagi...(Errrr, during berbuka, okay? ;))
Ramadhan has been smooth-sailing so far, syukur alhamdulillah. Hanna, Hasya and Hilman all have performed their Puasa dilligently, without any complaints at all. It helped that the first week of Ramadhan was during their school holiday, and the weather has been kind to us.
Sahur, too, has not been a war zone so far. Bibik Dar is indeed a blessing. She would prepare everything and wake all of us up at 5:00a.m for Sahur without fail. And surprisingly, we have not had much trouble waking the kids up. Even Hilman :) Every Sahur has been a simple affair so far. We only had rice once. Corned Beef Fried Rice, to be exact, courtesy of Meen's recipe.
The rest of our sahur have been either Toasted Sandwiches (Egg or Tuna), Half-boiled Eggs with Toasts, Campbell Soups (Chicken or Mushroom) with Bread, or Cereals. And of course, whatever kueh-mueh left from berbuka the night before. And I would make sure the whole family take their MultiVitamins, Scott's Emulsion, and Vitamin C every Sahur.
As for Berbuka, I think we've only broken fast at our home in SD maybe 3-4 times? The rest, we either berbuka at my MIL's, my parents', or outside - either at friends' place, or Hotels/Restaurants - the latter, mostly sponsored. I loike :)! Syukur Alhamdulillah. Oh ya, once Ayah's Heart Centre at TMC organized a Berbuka for his staff, catered by the hospital's F&B Department. Not bad at all (considering that they normally cook hospital food for their patients :))
Here are some reviews of the places we've been to -
Puteri Restaurant (Taman Tun) was so-so. I think I must have had quite high expectations after all the raves I heard about this place. I was a bit disappointed with the spread. I was hoping for more varieties and not just Traditional Malay dish. I know, I know... that's what they're famous for anyway, right?
Sari Ratu (Kota Damansara) was awesome. Puas makan :) We had Gulai Otak Sapi, Gulai Tunjang, Gulai Ayam, Gulai Pucuk Ubi, Gulai Nangka, Tenggiri Balado, Terung Balado, and of course their Sambal Ijo. Yummeh! Oh yes! Not forgetting their Chendol Durian! Terangkat I tell you :) Tapi, tak boleh makan selalu kat situ. Cholesterol-laden food, meh... :)
One World - they had an amazing spread. Memang tabik spring. But, the taste was a bit bland (at least to me, that is).
Le Meridien - I only tried the Chinese and Japanese spread. Very nice. I like :) They also have a Middle-Eastern and Indian Corner, and a Noodle Booth which looked good, but, I can't really comment as I didn't have any of those. Oh ya...their Burnt Coconut Drink was simply divine...
If we berbuka at home or in PJ or in KD, the wajib Bazaar Ramadhan dish would include Roti John, Otak-Otak, and Air Tebu. We normally go to the ones in Section 17 PJ (near my MIL's), Kota Damansara (near Ayah's hospital and my parents') and of course in SD itself.
There's one stall in Section 17 Bazaar which sells all sorts of kueh-mueh which I like. Their kuehs are tasty, and nicely made (comel) and clean. They sell very nice Kueh Kochi and another kueh which I don't know the name (made with tepung pulut and salut with gula - macam gula Kueh Keria?).
In Kota Damansara - there's one stall which sells Hot Soy Bean Milk which is a hit with the kids.
In Sri Damansara - one stall sells quite nice Otak-Otak. (Come to think of it, all the Otak-Otaks which we bought from these three Bazaars taste the same! From the same Johore supplier, maybe?)
Even though Taman Tun and Section 14 are within the radius of our lalu-lalang route, we have yet to go to the Bazaars there. Parking is madness, I tell you. And the jam... Gosh, pening kepala! I'd rather not stress myself by going there :)Some people sanggup queue for more than half an hour for the Popiah Basah in Section 14! Errrr, sorry no thank you...
For this week, we have two berbuka outside lined-up. Tomorrow will be at Baiti's in Taman Tun, and Wednesday night after the kids' piano class which ends at 7:45p.m, Ayah MIGHT bring me/us out for berbuka. This Wednesday 9th September 2009 will be our 15th Wedding Anniversary, by the way :)
And next Monday will be another sponsored berbuka for us. Venue yet to be announced :)
Will update you all on that, insya Allah ;)
Till then, I make do'a for the second half of this Ramadhan to bring more blessings to us, insya Allah.
Selamat beramal-ibadah :)
Oh by the way, as of 6:35a.m this morning, I've lost 2kgs this Ramadhan. A miracle - considering the food I've been indulging myself with all this while :)
* I will try to create a link to photos already uploaded on FB for your viewing and drooling pleasure soon... ;)
UPDATE - Okay, here are the links! Happy Drooling... ;)

WSR v4.1
Yours truly celebrated her birthday last week - another year older, another year wiser :) ( I hope!)
Thank you so much for all the well-wishes and do'as which I got through Facebook, SMSes and e-mails. I'm very, very touched indeed. The friendship and warmth extended on my birthday are very much appreciated and treasured. I still received birthday wishes even until yesterday - when I got free kerang from my usual towkay ikan at Pasar TTDI when he knew it was my birthday last week! (Next year nak demand ketam lah pulak...)
Ayah gave me my birthday card at 12:55a.m on my birthday - 55 minutes later than usual because he overslept. He was supposed to take a nap for 15 minutes before the clock struck midnight. In fact he even asked me to wake him up at midnight just in case he didn't hear the alarm. Ada kah?! :)
Anyway, I just didn't have the heart to wake him up, and I only managed to stir him when I snugged under the duvet as I called it a day at 12:55a.m. He woke up, wished me a happy birthday, gave me my card, kissed me on my forehead and off he went back to sleep after that. Granted and understood - it had been a long day for him at the hospital :)
Throughout the day, family and friends called to wish me, and my staff and colleagues at work threw a "surprise" birthday tea party, which was not really a surprise because I sort of guessed it. Who wouldn't if they kept on asking me over and over again, "Puan, you're going to be around petang ni, kan? Around 3:00p.m?" (AT LEAST 5 times, okay?) So, the "surprised" look wich I practiced for Hilman on Mother's Day, also came in handy on my birthday. HAHAHA!
Ayah came home earlier than usual that day and brought back a lovely bouquet of flowers (from him and the kids). And Hilman being Hilman, gave me a stalk of plastic red rose which he got from school, which according to him cost him RM1.20... And he wasn't lying, because the price tag was still there when he gave the rose to me. HAHAHAHA! Bless the sweet boy :)
We left the house after Maghrib for a family Japanese dinner at Su*hi Za*ma* at One-U. The restaurant is one of the children's favourites. Suffice to say, I think the kids enjoyed the food as much as (if not more than) the birthday girl did :) We finished our dinner just before 10:00p.m., after which we had to follow Ayah to Co*um*ia As*a as he had to review one of his patients there. We reached home JUST before the clock struck midnight to end my birthday. Perfect timing, I'd say :)
I feel very blessed indeed, and bersyukur to Allah SWT to have have had another year to spend with my loved ones, and I make do'a semoga diberikan umur yang panjang, kesihatan yang baik dan rezqi yang halal, and love and joy , and hidup yang diberkati throughout the rest of my life, insya Allah.
I thank Allah SWT for my family, and my friends who have made my birthdays more meaningful each year as I grow older...
Syukur alhamdulillah :)

The (not quite) sleepover :)
The long awaited day finally arrived!
We had been waiting for it for the last 2 years or so, and On*ir had been teased and chided by us as to why laaaa the construction of her house was taking soooo long to complete. The standing joke was that it was because she took so long to decide on the FONT to be used on the floor plans of the 2 1/2 storey bungalow, and THAT had stalled the building process and progress...Hehehe!
(No lah, On*ir...we know how tedious and nerve-racking it is to build a house from scratch...AND BRAVO to you and Sh*dy for a job well done! The house is REAAAALLLLY beautiful. So, now you guys can sit back and relax, and sigh a breath of relief :))
Anyway, On*ir, Mr. Engineer and their kids finally moved in into their spanking new place about a month ago, and last weekend, we were all invited to their housewarming do, and a few of us yang muka memang tak malu had invited ourselves for a sleepover, too :)
It was supposed to start with Tea at 5:00p.m on Saturday, followed by Dinner and Supper in the evening, and for those self-invited sleepers - Breakfast and Lunch on Sunday were also included in the package :)
Saturday, as usual, was a packed affair for us, and what with the kids' school replacement and all, we only managed to leave SD after Maghrib and only reached Sa*ja*a Im*ia* just after 9:00p.m. This time, we brought with us some Spaghetti Olio and Bubur Chacha to complement the spread prepared by the tuan rumah - Nasi Ayam and Mee Hoon Soup. Aw*n brought some Soto, and No* brought with her some Carrot Cake (yang very the sedap!) And, oh yes - Ibu brought with her some Tauhu Sumbat! :) (By the way, who brought the Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang and the cupcakes, ya?)
While the Mommies were catching up with the latest gossips, and the Daddies were busy watching some football matches over on ASTRO, the kids were busy "officiating" the spanking new swimming pool!
Later, the Mommies and Daddies lepas gian berkaraoke until about 2:30a.m. :)
The hosts were kind enough to give each family a room for the night, and after tucking the kids (and the hubbies) in bed, the Mommies went down for an all-night long chat which lasted until the Azan Suboh berkumandang from Ibu's phone! Hehehe...memang tak ingat dunia! After solat Suboh, baru lah rasa mengantuk giler.
Yours truly only managed to fall asleep just before 7:00a.m, only to be woken up by Hilman who wanted to ask permission if he could go for a swim in the pool again, at 10:00a.m :)
So, the kids had another round of splashing about in the pool until about 11:30a.m.
Sunday Breakfast menu was - Nasi Lemak with Sambal Udang, Sambal Sotong and Ayam Goreng Berempah, and also Nasi Ayam - served with Air Sirap, Teh Tarik and Nescafe Tarik.
First Class Service, or what, huh?! :)
Dengan berat hati, we left the house just after 1:00p.m, as Hanna had to go to her replacement guitar lesson at 2:30p.m. We reached home about 1:35p.m and Ayah and Hanna left again for One-U just after 2:00p.m.
I was struggling to keep awake the whole afternoon, but, by 4:30p.m I was already like a zombie. I think I zonked out just after Asar, and only woke up at 8:15p.m in the evening! Baik punya qadha' tidur!..
Even though my timing was a bit off, and this continued over until the next day - it was all worthed it :)
We all had a great time with friends and family during the Sleepover at On*ir and Mr Engineer's beautiful and cool new abode :)
(Errrr...but, me think - "Sleepover" is somewhat a misnomer for the Mommies, as we didn't really sleep that night. Hehehe! ;))
To the gracious hosts - Thank you so much for having us over the weekend, guys! We had a great time.
Planning to check in again this weekend. Can aaaarrr?! ;)
Oh ya...Lupa la pulok -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. ENGINEER!!! :) Semoga dipanjangkan umur, dimurahkan rezqi, and may your life with On*ir and family be blessed always. Insya Allah. Amin.
Here are some pics. Enjoy! :)

Delighted to be Reunited...
It's 1:37a.m, and I can't seem to bring myself to sleep.
Ayah has long gone to Dreamland, and Hilman is sleeping in between us as I'm typing this. The aircond is not switched on because Hilman is still coughing (after 2 weeks!), and maybe that is why I find it hard to doze off on this rather warm night.
Hilman has finished his course of Prednisolone (a steroid-based pills) and his Pabron syrup, but he is still coughing slightly. He still takes his Ventolin puffs every four hours, and he has been banned from taking any cold drinks, and also from switching on the aircond in his room when he sleeps at night for the past 2 weeks. I might have to bring him to see Dr. Musa again, but the only time I'm free to do that is this Friday morning.
Things have been pretty busy at work. My HoD is away on his 3-weeks "pilgrimage" to India, and for 2 of the weeks he's away, I have to be the acting HoD. And I just so hate admin stuff! But, what to do? And one of the things that I have to attend to is this visit by students and staff from Andalas U Indonesia today. Needless to say, I also have my normal teaching commitments on Thursdays to fulfill, too.
I feel bad for not being able to bring Hilman to see Dr Musa today. And Ayah is pretty busy, too. If only Dr Musa opens his clinic until the evening. Anyway, I will definitely bring Hilman to DSH on Friday. But, hang on! I have to check - I seem to remember that Dr Musa doesn't have his clinics on Fridays! I might have to bring him to see Dr. Azizi instead. Hmmmm, in the mean time, he will continue with his 4-hourly puffs and the normal Breacol syrup. Hope they'll make the cough go away somewhat, somehow.
And I have also been meaning to blog on my STF81-85 Reunion which was held last Saturday, 31st January '09 at Singgahsana. It. Was. Such. A. Blast!
But, MrsNordin told me that someone made a remark that I looked kind of "lost" that day! Yup, I guess I was "lost" alright. Lost for words that is! Hehehe! Or as I term it - "wordless" :)
There were 60 of us, and I just couldn't make up my mind as to whom I should be sitting and chatting with, and in the end I menghinggap sana sikit, sini sikit! And after 23 years, understandably there were some awkward moments between some of us. But, having said that, there were those whom I could just re-connect like we never left school all those years ago!
So, to those who may have felt "offended" by my state of "lostness" (?!), I sincerely apologize. I janji tak buat lagi...Hehehe! 5 hours to catch up on what happened to us in the last 23 years was surely not enough. And I went back having regrets for not being able to REALLY sit down and borak with some of the gang :(
It's good that we have now managed to compile all the data and contact details of most of our batchmates, and I am already looking forward to having coffee with Yan Hamid and Anis Harun one of these days, insya Allah. I might rope in Neetot, Farah and Shahariah (who could not make it that day) for a Kopitiam session somewhere. Eta, Anne, Zaza, Ogy, Oya, Pis, Netty, Jue are you guys in? Awe and Lin, all the way from BP, Hye from Bukit Mertajam, and of course, Aida K from Abu Dhabi - let us know when's the next time you guys are coming up/down/over to KL, and maybe we can arrange for the Kopitiam session to coincide with your KL trip, huh?
And my friends in FB have also increased in number since the Reunion. So, I'm pretty busy hogging on my FB account, too, these last few days, looking at all the photos posted - hence the somewhat state of neglect of this blog these last few days :)Sorry, guys.
But, to make up for the slight hiatus, you all can read all the postings about the "Delighted to be Reunited" Reunion of STF81-85 Batch by MrsNordin, Eta, McZae and moi, here, here, here, here , and here if you guys want to know more about what went on that day. And, oh yes - there are some great pictures, too!
Cheers, y'all :)
Post-script :
Ayah managed to bring Hilman to see his Paeds friend at TMC this morning. Apparently Hilman has a bad case of laryngitis, and he has been given 1 day MC. I'm glad it's not his asthma. Apparently his lungs are clear, but he has a very red and inflammed inner throat. Poor baby... :(

Get-together at The Z**e & Emerald Rawang...
My apologies. This posting is one week late due to my hectic schedule at work the last seven days. But, as the saying goes - better late than never, huh?
The gang had a get together in KL last Saturday (16th August 2008) - the occassion : to meet up with our friend Kmar who was back home in KL from Barcelona with her hubby, Jose, and their gorgeous kids - Daniel and Aisha. They were back for 5 weeks and only flew back to Spain last Monday.
I last met Kmar and her family when I menempek ikut Ayah who had a conference in Barcelona in 2006. The rest of the gang, apart from Sal and Awin, had not met Kmar since we left school in 1985 - that was 23 years ago!
Kmar and co. normally come back home every 2 years, and her parents would visit them in Spain in between. As her hometown is in Ipoh, and as everybody was always pretty tied up with things and stuff, we rarely got the chance to meet up with Kmar in KL before this. This time around we decided to make a point to have a get-together just a few days before she flew back home to Barcelona.
The venue was The Z**e in KL, where they were putting up for a few nights before their flight home. As it was the first day of the school holidays, there were still many of our friends who could not make it. Most of them had balik kampung that day. But, we went ahead with it, as realistically, it would never be possible to get everybody gathered together at any given time anyway.
It was a pot-luck thing and some of the dishes we managed to whip up (or got somebody else to whip up for us...Hehehe!) were Kuey Teow Goreng (moi :)), Ketam Masak Lemak Kuning (who else if not Ibu, who also bought with her some VERY juicy tembikai - but alas, NOT from TES*O! Hehehe!), Yam Cake (Awin), Satay Sa**ri (Sal), Cheese Cake (courtesy of Onair with the help of Sec**t Re**pe ;)), and those yummy Roti Boy buns (Abid).
Myself and co. were the first to arrive, followed by Ibu, Awin, Onair, Sal and Abid and their families. Suffice to say, when the gang got together, tak ingat dunia semua...
To Kmar,
It was really good to have met up with you and the family. And thanks for the ole-ole from Barcelona :). I hope next time Daniel will not be too shy with his Mom's VERY loud friends...Hahaha! And I'm so impressed with Aisha's Bahasa Melayu (or rather - Bahasa Perak! Hehehe!). It was quite interesting when we saw her automatically changed her language from Bahasa Perak to Spanish/Catalan when she spoke to Jose. And when she had to be the interpreter for Daniel and your parents - SOOOOOOO CUUUUTTTEEEE!!!
We should do this again next time when you're back in Malaysia, and hopefully we'll get more people to join in the fun, insya Allah.
Anyway, we said our goodbyes to Kmar and made our way home around 8:30p.m.
About an hour later, Ibu sent an SMS which I only read way after midnite-
"Guys, how abt teh tarik session at rawang 2mrw petang? Latest challenge in secret chamber for men n boys. Ladies...err...cabut rambut gatal?"
(Ibu's secret chamber is really an 'underground room' beneath her first floor garden, entrance to which is from her groundfloor garden)
The next morning, I texted her -
"Sorry, only read SMS late smlm. Jadi ker ptg ni? If all ok, we're ok, too. But, haizal nds anor secret chamber 2 work in. Can? What time nak serang rumah u?"
And she came back with -
"Ok 5pm. Teh/nscfe tarik, krpk lekor, sotng ball, roti smbl telur. badminton, carrom, fsball, scrble. Mic? Then watch chng wei vs lindan. Haizal can use mini libry or guest rm, free wifi"
But alas, only Onair and myself could make it as Abid was already heading her way to Penang that morning, while Jo was still in JB, and Reha was still in KB. Kengkawan lain pun semua out of town.
It was another pot-luck thingy, and I fried some meehoon for tea, while Onair bought a yummy Sec**t Re**pe cheese cake. (Errrr...Onair you ada share ke kat SR??!! Hahaha!)
The new challenge in Ibu's "secret chamber" turned out to be a pool table - much to the kids' delight! I lost count of how many rounds of pool, and how many games of badminton they played that evening. Suffice to say, all the kids were drenched with sweat by the time we made our way home that night.
Everybody was glued to the TV when Choong Wei played against Lin Dan in the Men's Single Finals that evening...Well, not for long though. Halfway through the game, a few of us were already having palpitations and found the game too much of a stress to watch, and we decided to just peep in every now and then. So much so, that we forgot to take pics of all the muka-muka tension that night. Everybody knows what happened to Choong Wei, so, let's not go into that, huh? :(
Anyway, later that night, Onair had a baking session in Ibu's kitchen, and surprise, surprise - MY Hanna helped her out! Hmmmm, IF only she is as helpful in MY kitchen! Hehehe!) As it turned out, Ibu had never used her new oven since she moved into the new place, and the racks were all still TIED together. (Errrr...why am I NOT surprised?! HAHAHAHA!!!) And the user's manual was just too much to absorb in 10 minutes. Last-last pakai the mini oven in the wet kitchen :)
Unfortunately, we could not wait until the cake was baked as we had to go and visit my biras who was involved in a cycling accident earlier on at DSH. Su**ian had his nose broken in three places and had to spend a night at the hospital. Syukur alhamdulillah, it was not serious (in fact, by Thursday morning he was already on his way on the plane to Hong Kong with L**n - my SIL, and their kids!) And check this out - one of the reasons they're there (besides bringing the kids to Hong Kong Disneyland) was, get this - to get ANOTHER bicycle! Sigh...
Anyway, that's that for now, ya...
In the mean time, here are some pics.
Enjoy!
