The kids are going to see High School Musical (On Ice?) at Bukit Jalil tonight. We bought the tickets about a month ago - specifically JUST for the kids, as both Ayah and I didn't (and still don't!) think we could sit through and watch the show with them. Thank God my SIL is ever-so-willing to bring the kids to all these thingies!
I'll be fetching them from school at 6:00p.m, and straight away send them to my MIL's where they'll have their shower, get ready and have dinner. The plan is for them to leave the house straight after Maghrib. And with the kids gone, I will then make my way back to SD. They'll be sleeping at my MIL's tonight.
As it will only be just Ayah and myself at home tonight (with Dar, our helper), I don't think I would want to cook anything for dinner. So, Ayah and I will keluar merendek tonight - rare opportunities nowadays! Hehehe...
But, Ayah will only finish his clinic around 8:30p.m.
Hmmmmm...Where shall we go for dinner tonight then?
Thought of going for Japanese but, we feel guilty because the kids just loooovvveeee Japanese!
What about going for a steamboat dinner at Johnnys? Nope - guilty again. The kids would have loved that, too.
Errr... Any of the Steak Houses? Nope - kids would have loved that, too.
The Chicken Rice Shoppe? Secret Recipe? Cozy Corner? Italiannies? Marche? Paya Serai?
NOPE to all - guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty....guilty...and guilty!
Anak-anak we all memang kuat makan...and sukaaaaaaaa sangat makan luar... Habis tu, how??!!
Susah laaa like this... Maybe, I'll just cook dinner tonight then?
(But, susah also coz' the kids also just loooooovvvveeeee my cooking! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!)
Hmmmm...Ayah and I will have to learn how to not think too much of the kids at times like this, I guess. Especially when they will probably be enjoying themselves at High School Musical on Ice and not even be thinking about us, huh?!
So, Ayah - how about if we go to CARCOSA, then?
"Errrrr.... Only if the kids join us", I hear Ayah (and the little voice in my head) say...
Sigh...
Nasi Kandar Sedap @ SD lah nampak gayanya...
Post-script - We actually went to The Curve around 9:45p.m that Friday night. The Curve being The Curve, it was still full to the brim with weekend party-goers. Finally settled on Italiannies for dinner, and later moved on to Cineleisure. Not much of a choice for a jiwang night-out movie, so Ayah and I watched "The Mummy 3". What can I say? Poor acting (what do you expect from Brendan Fraser, huh?), but, it's a good movie if you don't want to think too much about the plot, etc...and also if you need a good sleep in the first 20 minutes or so (which Ayah apparently did :))

Hi Kak Shana,
Hehehe.. the title is so catchy. Having read this post, it proves that you both are indeed parents contoh ;-) Unlike us.
Jahat tau we all.. Selalu sangat merendek mlm2. Just ask my girls. My present helper ni mmg superb with kids, tu yg lagi ambil kesempatan.
My HB is most of the time away. So, normally we will spend time together merendek during weeknights. Tak lah guilty sangat, coz slalunye if I try out a new place which I think they like to dine, the nx wkend mesti bwk diorg. But I strongly believe, we need time alone with our better half once in a while. So, Kak Shana... merendek jgn tak merendek ;-)
Haiyerrrrr.... ni baru nak dinner kat luar. Belom lagi romping trip like kawan kita Ab*d suggested tuh... hahahaha....
p/s Gi makan kan Mamak Kayu kat Tesco udah ler... sure tak rasa guilty. LOL!!
Hehehe... Mommy Dear...
Just finished my clinic. I have to go see a patient on the ward first before I fly home to your arms! ;p
Where to merendek? Good question, Hahaha. Fancy dinner followed by midnite movie? Teringat zaman Cerita Chenta kita dolu2 yaaa...
:)
wanshana, there will never be a repeat of merendek of days gone by.
When we went back recently without children, we stayed separately and met on dates...at KLCC, MIdvalley - , on short trips away, nice and sweet - but never like those days. Because the children will feature greatly in our minds.
Hi Jabishah,
Hehehe...
It's good that you and HB manage to steal some time away from the kids just to merendek every now and then.
Ayah and I sometimes would meet up for lunch, normally at my workplace. His hospital is just sepelaung from my office actually. Only couldn't find the time to really merendek properly together :)
We actually went out merendek at The Curve last night and went to Italiannies. And when the food came, it was like, "Ooooohhhh... Hilman and Hanna would love the seafood... Ooooohhhh... Hasya would enjoy the stuffed mushrooms, etc"...
And in the midst of dinner, Ayah came out with, "Hmmmmm...I miss the kids..."
Hehehe...
Ibu,
Hahaha! "Romping"??!! Biar betul?!
Anyway, Kayu @ Tesco did cross our mind, but, Ayah said - that one exclusive for outing 4 pagi post- Red Box with the MTs. Hahaha!
See you this afternoon. Kita cerita panjang.
hahaha....merendek pun duk teringat kat anak...bukan merendek namanyer tuh....
Hi Shana,
Oooh...I lurve to merendek with hubby. Kat sini susah nak cari chance la because the kids will be alone at home. So very very kesian.
Prior to our move here, hubby and I used to merendek every Fri nite. Kerja I asyik2 cari tempat baru to try out. I missed doing that so much.
Just go and have fun. As you said, the kids probably would not be thinking about their mum and dad tonite. And you all should do the same too!
wanshana,
Orang Joho' kata berendut....
Ayah,
Thanks for the wonderful nite last night, even though I'd have to say the movie "The Mummy 3" was not really the most suitable choice for a merendek movie. (Especially when you actually slept through the first 15-20 minutes?! Hahaha... It's okay, I knew you had a very long day at work)
We should do this on a regular basis, no?
Kak Teh,
Ayah and I were thinking and hoping that we would get our "merendek" time again once the kids dah besar sket...
But, after reading your comment, nampak gayanya we'll just have forget about it lah ya? :(
I guess whatever chances we get and whatever little time we could spend just the two of us now should be utilised fully, huh?
Bella,
Tu lah haaa...
Habis tu, nak kena panggil apa ya?
"Meranak"?! Hehehe...
Hi Madam Tai Tai,
Best kan kalau dapat merendek selalu? Did you manage to steal some time alone with hubby when you were back in Malaysia hari tu?
I set my handphone to silent mode last night when we were at the movies, and totally forgot to set it to ringing mode after that.
I only remembered about it around 12:30 a.m., and when I checked there were a few missed calls from my SIL's number and later from my MIl's house number. Apparently the kids tried to call me a few times!
I'd like to think that they WERE thinking of their Mommy and Ayah while watching the HSM on Ice!!
Ayah @ 7:34p.m.,
Oh yaaa - "berendut"... :)
The Johoreans have a lot of words which were very foreign to me (that was UNTIL I went to a boarding school in JB)
Words like "gobok", "ek?!", "kita" (instead of "saya", etc. :)
AHHH YOU ATE AT ITALIANNIES?!
o:
Hi Wanshana, hey...you should forget your kids for awhile and just enjoy being together with your hubby...candle light dinner at Carcosa. Itu la dia.
I love that place. Was there in 2002. Beautiful ambiance.
Nothing like being home alone with hubby...*wink*.
Live your live with no excuses, love with no regrets.
Have fun Wanshana, Lee.
Hanna,
Yes - we went to Italiannies :)
If it is of any comfort - both Ayah and I THOUGHT about you and adek-adek when we had their yummy gastronomical delights...Hehehe!
;)
Hi Uncle Lee,
Thanks!
Nope - we never made it to Carcosa last Friday night. Would love to have a candle-lit dinner there one of these days, though. Maybe on our upcoming Anniversary? ;)
I'm living life to the fullest alright - no excuses, no regrets :)
Take care, Uncle Lee.
Shana
I think we are alike in this 'merendek' thingy...jarang berkesempatan nak 'merendek' berduaan...kalau dapat pun we will miss the children!
But its good, once in a while kan? I used to meet up with dear hubby in Jakarta or Bangkok sesorang whenever I was on business trips. Haa...time tu 'power' nyer merendek you...hahahahaha..
Hello Kak Shana,
Aiyo...You take so much time to feel guilty when it comes to food? One good motto to remember is: Less man, more share!
Muahahahaa!!!! Yes what...With the same budget, you can eat more la, since there are less people...
When it comes to good ol' food, it's every stomach for itself!
Muahahaha...
Keke...
The last time me & hubby went out on any date was ages ago... Tu lah the -ve side of not having a maid.
Anyway, we make up for it by having 'Our time' in the comfort of our home, in front of the idiot box, pretending hard we are at the movie.
Meanwhile, the kids watch their own TV shows in different room. Tu sebab we subscribe to 2 Astro accounts... Tapi, somehow or rather, kids still come over to kacau us. Memang tak bagi chance langsung...
Waterlily,
Tu lah kan...especially when we merendek at nice posh restaurants which we know the kids would love.
Hmmmm, we shall not go into how "powerful" your merendek with hubby were in Bangkok and Jakarta, okay? We can leave it to everyone's imagination. Hehehe!
P/S: When are you flying back to Abu Dhabi then? Dah settled tickets, etc?
Hello Daphne,
Muahahahaaa!!! (and kekeke, too!):D
You've got a point there, but, sometimes when the kids are not with us, no selera to makan, meehhh...So, how?!
The moral of the story is - nanti when sudah kawin, and belum ada kids - make sure merendek puas-puas with hubby. Go to all the posh restaurants around, and wallop everything, okay?
Mamamia,
Hehehe...to "pretending hard we are at the movie". I know what you mean.
We have 2 ASTRO decoders, 1 TV for PS2, and a portable DVD player at home, thinking that at any one time, each kid would be glued to one of them, leaving at least one gadget for Ayah and I to enjoy just the two of us. But, naaahhhh, no chance of that!
And on some rare occassions when both Ayah and I managed to sit in front of the telly just the two of us, one of us (or BOTH) would fall asleep after 5 minutes! Hehehe!
So, "merendek" turned out to be "mengorok"...:)
alaa...dah lambat nak bagi suggestion. but anyways, i would have suggested nasi daun pisang!
sure the kids would feel they didnt miss much.
so less guilty, more to stuff in!
...kihkihhhhh.....
Salam Shana,
Both Azian and I pun kalau kes makanluar ni will always feel guilty all the time... what a thoughtful parents we are kan... hahahahaha.
How's the show? For some strange reasons all my girls sumer tak suka HSM... but they are huge on Miley Cyrus...
I say Kerp...
Ayah and I are not into Nasi Daun Pisang laaa, especially after being charged RM22/= for a basic meal of banana leaf for 2 at K**na Curry House a few years back. Memang rip-off abis!
Now ni, kalau gi Kedai Mamak, it's Nasi Goreng Kambing for us ;)
Salam Mior,
Ha-ah, kita ni mak bapak mithali, kan? Hehehe!
Tapi, when it comes to makan-makan ni, memang tak sampai hati laa, especially bila mengenangkan anak-anak yang sememangnya KUAT makan!
As for HSM On Ice tu, entah...Anak-anak I have not really told me about it. Macam tak excited pun after watching the show. So, I guess, nothing spectacular kot?
Lucky you...Anak-anak I are into HSM AND Miley Cyrus... Fenin.
Hey,
So how was the gathering at Kmar's? Sorry I couldn't make it. Feel quite bad I missed her. Post on it, ok?
kanna curry house! muahaha...ha ah la...restaurant tu mmg mahal nak mampoihh...
MrsNordin,
The gathering went very well indeed. Tak ingat dunia (and tak ingat laki semua!! Hahahaha!)
Will post about it soon, insya Allah.
And oh yes - Welcome back! Read your posting on your Krabi trip tapi tak sempat nak leave comment.
JELES....
Kerp,
MEMANG! MENCEKEDAGHAH...
Shana,
Been there, done that. Apasal lah kita ni guilty sangat kalau keluar berdua & tak bawak anak-anak? Macam ada buat 'dosa' pulak kan?
But that's how we are. Our kids are very much part of us sampaikan nak keluar makan berdua pun rasa guilty habisss. Setakat pegi pasar tani tu ok lah. Tapi kalau nak jalan-jalan tu, rasa guilty & incomplete pulak.
Ayah & I kalau makan berdua only during lunch time weekdays. That means he'd come & pick me up at my office and have a quick bite somewhere near my office.
Tapi I, kalau keluar dgn officemates during lunch hour - makan tak rasa guilty langsung pulak.. hehehe.. Tony Roma's ke, Itallianies ke, Outback ke... zero guilt! Sorry kids :)
Ja,
Betul tu! I pun selalu dating with Ayah masa lunch. He would normally come over to my side of the Uni for a quick bite. Tak rasa guilty sangat because both of us from office, and the kids are at school.
Yang tak boleh tahan is if we go out from home for a meal, and leaving them with the maid.
Tapi, if we were to leave them and go karaoke-ing with our friends tak per lah pulak!
I guess when it's just the TWO of us, tu yang rasa guilty tu...
Anyway, we're bringing them out for a shopping spree at The Curve tonight, lepas tu nak gi Italiannies for dinner.... (SAH sebab rasa guilty we all merendek last week! Hahaha!)
he he- jab is always nodding off in cinemas- i think they use this as a chance to catch up on sleep lah!
