Of Pink Panther 2, Shoes, and Los Angeles...

We went to watch Pink Panther 2 last night. I am a big fan of Steve Martin, so, I may be a bit biased when I say that it was SUPERB! Or rather, I should say, HE was superb :) But, Ayah, Hanna and I enjoyed Pink Panther 1 more. Hilman and Hasya loved both equally and they could not decide on which of the two was more hilarious :)

The younger kids didn't know that we were watching the movie. I told Hanna about it though, as I wanted her to bring her jacket with her, or at least wear a long sleeved top, as it can be pretty cold in the movie halls sometimes. As we wanted it to be a surprise for Hilman and Hasya, I had to secretly bring their jackets in my handbag (Yup. I have a VERY big handbag. And it's like ASTRO in there - macam-macam ada... :)) If I were to ask them to bring their jackets themselves, they would surely suspect, as the only time I would ask them to bring their jackets during an outing would be when we're going to the movies.

And as Hilman was (and is) still coughing, I also had to bring all his cough medications with me to be given to him before we went in to watch the movie. So, you can imagine how bulky my handbag was last night!

We went to Sk*chers to get Hilman's new slippers. The Sk*chers that I got for him from Newcsatle two years ago (ala Crocs) dah botak habis the tapak. And we managed to find a nice Camouflage design for him. And Hasya also got a pair of nice sandals for herself there. Hanna wanted a pair of Sk*chers trainers for herself, too but, the ones that she liked were selling at RM269! And considering that we just got her the Alhambra guitar 2 weeks ago which burnt a big whole in Ayah's pocket, RM269 for a pair of trainers for her is out of the question. And immediately after that, she pulled me to the side and said, "Mommy, tadi in Ni*e, there was a pair of trainers that I liked selling at RM159 only..."

(ONLY??!!) Hmmmm...you speak to Ayah, lah Hanna... Fenin Mommy...

We had dinner at Kl*ang St*tion, and all three kids ordered Hainanese Chicken Chops which came rather late. The movie was supposed to start at 10:20p.m (or rather the trailers and all), and the food only came at 10:05p.m! Obviously, both Hasya and Hilman were rather perplexed when I kept on asking them to finish up their food fast, and I kept on looking at my watch.

They finished everything at 10:20p.m on the dot, and I immediately gave Hilman his cough syrup. We walked up the escalators to GSC and the smaller kids got really excited when they realized that we were heading to the cinemas. We decided not to tell them what movie it was that we were watching, but both of them could sense that it was PP2. And Hilman, kept on asking me throughout the trailers, "Mommy, we're watching Pink Panther 2, right?!", and all he got from me was, "You'll just have to wait and see, okay?" And when the movie started, there were squeals of "YES!" from both Hasya and Hilman :)

(But, I later found out that Hanna had already told Hasya about it even before we left home last night! Trust Hanna to do that. But, I guess sisters can never keep secrets from one another. Hehehe! And pandai betul Hasya "acting" as if she didn't know... :))

And just as the movie was starting, Hilman asked me,

Hilman : Mommy, can I have the Los Angeles, please?

Me : Huh?! Los Angeles?!

Hilman : Yeah, the ones the doctor gave to me. The sweets? The ones like Strepsils?

Me : ??! (and after a few seconds, then only I got it) Oooooo...you mean the LOZENGES?!

Hilman : Yeah, the Los Angeles...

Hehehe! Kelesss gitew...my son takes Los Angeles to soothen his sore throat, you all...Hehehe!

Syukur alhamdulillah, after taking his cough syrup and his Los Angeles, and after putting on 2 layers of jackets, he barely coughed during the movie.

We reached home just after midnight, and everybody went straight to bed. But before they went to their rooms, the kids thanked us in concert with their, "Thank you, Mommy. Thank you, Ayah. For tonight. We had fun..."

Thank you, kids. Mommy and Ayah had fun, too :)

P/S : Oh, by the way, looks like one of our kids is closely following Ayah's footsteps...Check it out here

Kak Ezza,

Kak Shana,

Am a fan of Steve Martin too. Have got to catch that movie!

BTW, hmmm... I finally handed in the long due assignment. (Jgn marah jerit2.. nanti kena cari Los Angeles!)But come to think of it mana ada dead line kan? ;-)

Upon reading your title, I was thinking woaaa you all pergi LA tgk Pink Panther 2 and sempat beli kasut lagi... but that was really funny of Hilman, who would have thought that we need Los Angeles for our sore throat.
Anyway, being orang lama somehow I still prefer Peter Sellers as the Tuan Inspector. But Steve Martin isn't that bad... but prefer him in the Father of the Bride though, now that character I can relate...

Cute one Hilman!

Will wait for the PP2 DVD (cetak rompak lah kalau kat sini!). I like Steve Martin too. He is adorably funny, yg tak menyakitkan hati like Jim Carey.

Naz in Norway said...

Los Angeles! haha!
I love reading about you and your kids ni.
Shana,
I teringat from the first PP movie, SMartin's *i want an amburder!* :D

tireless mom said...

Dear Shana

Ha ha.. Los Angeles from Lozenges. Cutenya Hilman. Surely reminded me of a similar story Oochew told us recently. This song yang chorus dia "Get down on it" One bimbo was asking the bf, "Why guitar no need?"

Must catch the PP2 soon.

Hellloooo!!!!!!

Teenagers nowadays, kasut they all lagi mahal dari kita punya kan? The worse part is, they'll outgrown them sebelum sempat kita recover the earlier purchase.

Baru petang tadi, Farah ajak gie tengok PP2. But Papapia is not a fan of SMartin. Maybe, kena baca2 sikit lah, so that we'll get a chance to watch it.

Los Angeles... very funny Hilman!!!

Ummi365 said...

Ok, next time aunty sakit tekak boleh tak Hilman supply aunty with Los Angeles jugak. Agaknya kalau suck Los Angeles tu boleh kut nampak Disneyland dah dekat dah tu hahaha. Tak payah aunty pergi sana kan. he is so cute.

Just couldn´t stop laughing with ´Los Angeles´... !!!!

Hope Hilman will get well soon. Alamak.... I think i offered him mini poppers ice cream la semalam?!! Sorry Mommy....

D.N.A.S said...

I dah tengok Pink Panther 2!!!! Aishwarya Rai sangat lawaaaaa!!!

wanshana said...

Ja,

Steve Martin is so funny, kan? Even though some say that his characters in all his movies are rather stereotyped, I still think he's one great entertainer :)

And thanks for finally submitting the 'assignment'. Have read it. Results keluar next week...Hehehe!

wanshana said...

Mior,

Waaaaaa...IF ONLY that was the case - watching PP2 in LA! Tapi, I kalau gi LA tak gi tengok wayang kot?! Hehehe!

Yeah, Peter Sellers was brilliant, kan? But, somehow Steve Martin has made Clousseau a different character somewhat and yet still easily accepted by diehard PP's fans, kan?

Oh yes - Father of the Bride... Of course you can so relate to that :) Hey, maybe you can "upgrade" yourself to relate to his character in Cheaper by the Dozen too?! Another 9 to go? Hehehe!

wanshana said...

Gina @ MTT,

You're right. Steve Martin is so much more likeable than Jim Carey, and he is so adorable, kan? Sometimes I can just scream when I watch Carey's movies, you know...

The kids dah start pestering us to get the pirated DVDs for PP2 already. Might just get the DVD9 this weekend. I don't mind watching it again (and again) in the comfort of our own home :)

And Benjamin Buttons...A MUST, too!

wanshana said...

Naz,

It is pretty funny, kan? "Lozenges" = "Los Angeles". It's even funnier when you look at how serious he was when he said it. Hehehe!

The "hamburger" part was, and still is, our most favourite part of the movie! It was soooo kelakar, kan? And PP2 also has the "hamburger" bit, too :) I think my kids will always associate those "hamburger" scenes with Pink Panther, even until they all dah besar nanti! Very memorable indeed.

wanshana said...

K.Yatt @ TM,

Serious?!

Hahaha! That's a good one. "Get down on it" = "Guitar no need"?!

Yes, you should go and watch the movie with the whole family. You all will enjoy it tremendously, I'm sure :) Another movie that you should go and watch is "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". So nice...(It's PG13 though)

wanshana said...

Mamamia,

Helllooooo to you, too! :D

You're absolutely right - kasut dioghang ni mengalahkan kasut kita, kan? Lepas tu, pakai 3-4 kali, dah tak muat. Tension...

My friend's hubby who would normally sleep through most of the movies they go to, did not sleep at all during PP2. So, that's a good indicator that it's a very entertaining movie, I think? :)

Good luck with pujuk-ing Papapia :)

wanshana said...

Ummi,

He was so confident that it was "Los Angeles". Tu yang buat lagi cute tu. Hehehe!

Kalau boleh nampak "Disneyland" sure berpuluh dozen "Los Angeles" habis, kot?! :)

wanshana said...

Kmar,

Hehehe...I pun. Bila teringat the conversation, mesti I tersengih sorang-sorang :)

wanshana said...

Haq @ Dof4+1,

Your Khadija and my Hanna can form a club, kan? They have a lot in common :)

"Engineer" Bag?! Hehehe...That's so cute!

Hmmmmm, I wonder if they have their own special names they give to LV, Prada, Gucci, Ferragamo and the likes?

wanshana said...

Ibu,

Aiyooooo...If my daughters' shoe collections reach even half of yours...botak lah I...Hehehe!

Mini Poppers tu, kira buat ubat lerrr - bak kata orang tua...(but not me lah kan...Coz' I tak tua! ;))

wanshana said...

D.N.A.S,

Yes. Aishwarya Rai sememangnya teramatlah lawa... (Tapi her acting - still ada "kehindustanan" sket, don't you think?)

Waterlily said...

At least you can still figure it out Shana..Los Angeles = Lozenges. Kalau I, sampai wayang dah habis pun belum tentu tau lagi..hahahahaa..

wanshana said...

Waterlily,

If Hilman hadn't mentioned "sweets" and/or "Strepsils", sure I pun could not figure out what he meant by "Los Angeles" tu...Hehehe!

It's funny jugak coz a day after that I heard him practising how to say "Lozenges" correctly - bercakap sorang-sorang :)

kei glass said...

That is too Cute. I think i need some Los Angeles right now too!! I'm glad i can keep track of you on here... you're too far away and it makes me sad

wanshana said...

Kat,

Yup - ultra cute :)

Colorado must be freezing now. Hope you guys have not been snowed-in in any way.

Anytime you and Ed need strong doses of sunshine (with intermittent tropical showers :)) do come and visit us here. We're not THAT far away, actually...Just about 28 hours flight away to be exact...Hehehe!

Take care.

P/S : I still owe you (and 3 other friends) the 25 random notes on moi on FB! I'd better get down to it soon...ish :)

Hi Bella,

Thanks!!! Laaaaammmaaaa chek tunggu greenlight, tau... Hehehe! Will link you up after this for sure. Thanks again, dear :)

And yes - Hilman always comes with all sorts of new words/stuff which only he understands. I think you must be referring to the time when he called "leather seats" - "COW seats", kot? Hahaha! I still tersenyum bila ingat that incident :)

I loved Benjy Buttons. Cried buckets at the end.

Steve Martin punye movie yang I can't help to watch if it's on is Parenthood. I will cry and cry at the end.

(You must figure out by now that is abnormal if I watch a movie and I don't cry. Heck I even cvru if someone wins a race macam Olympics ke.. ha ha ha)

We terlangkah kanan for Q1 bday do at Hartamas. Tapi u pergi gathering batch u. Did your Ayah sampaikan my salam?

wanshana said...

MrsA @ Amy,

Samalah kita...I pun cememeh. I pun nangis like nobody's business tengok Benjy Button. It is such a sweet and sad movie at the same time, kan?

Haizal dah sampaikan your salam that day itself. Thank you, and Wa a'laikumussalaam :). Yes - I missed Q1's bday do coz' of my reunion hi-tea hari tu. I heard the little missies had so much fun at the spa! Trust Ly*n to organize such a party... Hehehe!

wanshana said...

MsHart (or can I call you Tati? Hehehe...), of course you can call me Shana :)

Don't worry, I sometimes do that, too - baca 2-3 postings macam tak der punctuation marks. Hehehe!

Don't think it's a sign of old age, dear. Rather, our level of khusyukness has increased...(and hopefully this applies to when we solat, too, insya Allah. Amin. :))
