Happy 10th Birthday, Hasya :)

I meant to post this on the day itself, but, exhaustion and stuff at work had other things in store for me in the last three days.

We had another makan-makan session on Wednesday night at my MIL's to celebrate Hasya who turned 10 on that day - 8th April 2009.

I am always reminded of the hikmah (which I wrote here) which had given us the gift of Hasya 10 years ago, and how the grave sadness that we felt when we lost our second baby after a miscarriage in 1997 has been compensated by Allah SWT many, many, manyfolds when HE gave us Hasya in 1999. Syukur Alhamdulillah. God really works in mysterious ways...

Of all three of our kids, Hasya is the choleric one. I wrote about it here. She's a perfectionist. Very determined. Strong-willed. Knows what she wants. And very set in her ways. So much so, sometimes we feel like she's the boss :) But, she listens to reasons well if they are valid :) She's a very bright girl. She NEVER cried (not even once) when she had her immunisation jabs when she was a baby. In fact, she never cried/cries when she got/gets a scolding from us. It's quite frustrating sometimes when you want to get some kind of reaction from her after a round of scolding! The only times that she cried/cries (or rather, merengek) would be when she was/is really sick. That's our Hasya :)

For her 10th Birthday, we didn't plan for any big parties, etc, but she did ask if she could have a couple of friends for a sleepover this weekend. But, after the makan-makan and after I explained to her of how packed our weekend would be - what with the school replacement AND also another makan-makan session at Aunty On*ir and Uncle Sh*dy's new house this weekend (Ya...hidup kami memang sentiasa dipenuhi dengan sesi makan-makan. Anda ada masalah?...;)), she was okay with not having the sleepover today (but, she did ask if she could have it in May, instead. And I said - depending on her Mid-Year exam results :))

Anyway, this time around, I goyang kaki ajer, coz' I outsourced everything. I gave a free hand to my SIL - Ya*re*n a.k.a Aunty Adek, to organize the birthday dinner. She just finished her exams and was/is on her Semester break, and so, she jumped at the opportunity to mess my MIL's kitchen up :) I only asked her -

i - to come up with the menu
ii - to list out the things she needed to whip up the dishes
iii - to follow me to Co*d St*ra*e @ Ja*a33 to buy the stuff, and
iv - to cook everything

I only paid for the stuff. One thing I realized - Co*d St*ra*e has EVERYTHING, I tell you! Considering that the menu she came up with was pretty much a western spread, and she's the type who follows the recipe to a T, we actually managed to get EVERYTHING she needed (including those pelik-pelik and rare ingredients!) from there. Pretty impressive (and pretty expensive, too, if I may add...but, sekali-sekala tak per...And it's for our daughter's birthday pun, kan?)

And she came up with :-

Mushroom Soup and Garlic Bread
Cheesy Jacket Potatoes
Pizzas (a myriad of those!)
Beef Lasagna

and

Roast Chicken (she made FOUR, in fact - and obviously she over-estimated, as we were having roast chicken until Friday. Hehehe!)

And, oh ya - for desserts, she made some Baked Poached Pears.

How cool was that?! :)

Thank God, for a SIL who's a gem in the kitchen (and she's only 20-y.o., okay?)

The food was REALLLLLLY good. And everyone was stuffed to the max that night.

Thank you so much, Adek. Nanti Kak Shana and Angah belanja you somewhere, okay? :)

(Errrrr, another thing - maybe you should block the weekend of Hilman's birthday in September? Because I think he has already planned a similar feast to celebrate his 9th birthday! Hehehe!)

Anyway, here are some pics.

HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY, DARLING HASYA. WE ALL LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH...

MMMMMMUUUUAAAAAAHHHHSSS!

AND

((((((HUGS)))))))

Happy Birthday Hasya!!! Only a day after Idin, eh? I'm so proud to have you in our circles of "junior friends".... May all your wishes come true.

To Mommy Shana, the middle part of your entry and every single bit of explanation of that very cold place where you said you can get everything....i don't like. I looked at the menu, I think there's another place that's not so cold that can offer the same too (murah lagi pulak tu). hehehehhhhhhhh.... rugi laaaa points wehh!! Tapi x per, sekali sekala, I hereby pardon u. LOL!!!

C U tonite. Sleep over ker? Mari kita bergolek beramai-ramai!!!

Terima kasih, Kak Ezza :)

Cantik? Terima kasih sekali lagi...errr, dia ikut Mak dia, kot? HAHAHAHAHAHA! NOT!

Tapi, dah besar, dia nak ikut Ayah dia - nak jadi cardiologist. Amin. Insya Allah :)

My SIL ni memang minat masak-memasak ni. Everytime, kalau ada majlis kat rumah my MIL she would cook something - normally desserts. My MIL enrolled her for a Baking and Cake Deco Class right after her SPM, and boleh lah -kalau nak come up with nice theme, etc.

Dia ni memang minat giler kat Jamie Oliver tuhhh :) She wants to open up her own restaurant nanti. Amin. Insya Allah.

You have a good day, too, Akak :)

Happy Birthday Hasya! 10 marks the end of 'childhood' years and the beginning of teenagehood. I'm sure you will find that the next decade will be more exciting than the past one.

Happy Birthday to Sweet Hasya!
I am very impressed with the young cook too :)

Happy Birthday Hasya... I have tasted Aunty Adek's lasagna, but I am also impressed with the spread. She did all the cooking herself?

Dear Ibu,

Thank you (on Hasya's behalf). Yup - just a day after Idin :)

I knew I would get walloped by you by the mere mention of that cold place. Hehehe! Sorry la, geng...

Hanna was having her tuition near there that night, and Haizal was not able to fetch her. So, fearing of me fetching her late should I were to go to your kedai runcit which is at the other end of the world, we came to a rational decision to go to that cold place...Hehehe! Jangan mare...

High probablity of sleeping over memandangkan we'll only leave the house after Maghrib, and the kids will only be able to enjoy the pool fully tomorrow morning, I guess.

Cheers! ;)

Ja @ DDI,

Thank you for the wish and do'a. Insya Allah, Amin :)

Yup - the food was sedap alright :)

wanshana said...

Dilla,

Thank you for the wish :)

Sure, no problem one - can pinjam, but I'll have to charge commission. Hahaha!

I dah made amends with Ibu semalam - I bawak Bubur Chacha and Spaghetti Olio to a makan-makan session at Kak On*ir's house - all ingredients bought from her kedai runcit...:)

wanshana said...

Kak Yatt @ TM,

Thanks for the wish :)

Hasya didn't have a jammies party at home this weekend, but all of us had a sleepover at On*ir's spanking new house, and I think Hasya had a great time coz' jumpa the daughters of the MTs - another set of friends :)

wanshana said...

Desert Rose,

Thank you for the wish and do'a. Insya Allah, Amin.

Waduuuhhh...ramai lah pulak nak engage my SIL's culinary services nih?! Nak kena bukak appointment book lah pulak! Hehehe!

Jadi adik angkut - insya Allah boleh.

Jadi adik ipar - tak leh janji. Now she tengah sangkut with someone :) But, I guess - selagi belum sign on the dotted lines - she's still a free agent, innit?! :)

wanshana said...

D.N.A.S,

Thank you for the wish, and sorry for making you drool, dear :)

Promotional invitations when she opens her restaurant nanti - bisa diatur :)

wanshana said...

Gine @ MTT,

Thank you for the wish, dear :)

But, I hope she won't find the next decade TOO exciting - takut her Mommy and Ayah tumbuh uban dengan meriahnya lah pulak nanti! Either that, or we'd go bald! Hehehe!

wanshana said...

Naz,

Thank you for the wish :)

Yup. For a 20-y.o girl, she REALLY can cook. Lucky us, eh? ;) But, she's more into Western culinaries, so, kalau we all nak indulge ourselves in Asian spreads, kena masak sendiri loorrr...

wanshana said...

MrsA,

Thank you for the wish :)

Yes, of course! Adek selalu jugak supplement the catered food when Lynn throws birthday parties for her two Qs, kan?

And yes - she cooked ALL that herself, with a little help from the kids.

You had tasted her Lasagna before, right? The ones she cooked that night was very moist and succulent - everything was just right. Aiyooo..writing about it pun, I sudah terliur...Hehehe!

wanshana said...

Dear MHB,

Thank you for the birthday wish, and thank you for the compliments. Syukur alhamdulillah, anugerah Allah SWT :)

Yes, bertuah badan future hubby of my SIL ni. Tapi takut he'll "mengembang" pada kadar supersonic rate lah pulak nanti...Hehehe!

Happy Belated Birthday, Hasya!! From your description, she's almost the same as our No. 2. Middle child is like that, kot?

Btw, such long legs you have, Hasya. Boleh jadi model bila besar nanti! Hee.. hee... Take care!

wanshana said...

Hi BJ,

Yes, I guess memang traits of middle child :)

And yes, she has very long legs and she's very conscious of that, and also of the size of her feet. We feel that she will be taller than her Kak Long nanti.

As it is, Hanna is already taller than me. So, in 5-6 years time, when Hasya and Hilman shot up, I'll be a dwarf compared to them :)

Model? Not if if I have a say in it! Hehehe! Well, part-time still shots model - maybe okay lah kot. ;)

Anom,

Thank you for the birthday wish. Insya Allah :)

Feliz CumpleaƱos Hasya!! Semoga panjang umur, murah rezeki and keep on having that ´determination spirit´ in your life.

Shana, your Western Menu not bad... boleh meleleh air liur.. he.he.he.. Boleh bagi pingat kat your SIL laa!! I bet kalau dia buka restaurant kat sini, mesti laku punya. Suruh le dia turunkan ilmu kat you...he.he..

wanshana said...

Kmar,

Thank you for the birthday wish and do'a for Hasya. Insya Allah. Amin.

The menu - I left it entirely to my SIL. She was the one who decided on everything. The night before, siap buat work schedule lagi! Pro or what?! ;)

Rasanya I'm now at a stage where ilmu masak memasak ni dah tak boleh diperturunkan kat I lagi...coz' I know I wouldn't have the time to masak them anyway. Hehehe! So, biarlah I sub-con ajer :)

I think, when her dream of opening up a restaurant comes true, she'll do well, insya Allah. She's very passionate about the whole thing :)

Salam untuk Shana dan Hasya...(mcm combine nama je ek!..kebetulan..)..

Walupun buleh dikira berapa kali jumpa..ur hasya pd pandangan mataku sangat comel...si kecik molek berambut ikal mayang (yang ini..ikut sape ek shana!)dan bersuara 'nyaring' juger..gelak ketawa yg memukau....somehow..I cd sense the 'seriousness and perfectionist' in her....bertuah shana..syukur...

Selamat Ulang Tahun..ye Hasya.....( dari makcik yg ade ramai anak pompuan!)...mudah2an tercapai cita2...ikut jejak langkah ayahandanya...anak solehah..and make ur parents' proud!!..

Seronoknya...goyang kaki saje...lain kali..masak lah cam tu gak..terliur..terliur...ajaklah mai!!

wanshana said...

Eta dear,

Thank you for the wish and do'a. Amin. Insya Allah.

You're right about her nyaring voice. Sometimes rasa nyilu telinga ni...Hehehe!

And being a perfectionist means that sometimes she doesn't want to participate in games, etc, which she feels she will not win! Ada ka patut?! Nak menang ajer kerja dia...

Hmmmm, nak tunggu I masak the same dish - alamat tak merasalah you, Eta oiii!!! Unless, nanti I sub-con again ngan my SIL, insya Allah :)

Take care :)

Oooops... happy belated birthday dear Hasya. Hope you had a wonderful bday.

Errr kak Shana,I think this is the first time the menu is kuey teow less... ;-) But again, you were not the chef.

wanshana said...

Hi Ja,

Thank you, on Hasya's behalf :)

She had a great time alright.

Ha-ah - no kuey teow this time. I was not in the mood to masuk dapur even that day! Hehehe!

If I were to cook it pun, macam tak kena dengan the whole theme :)
