It is their hair that I smell...

It’s strange when I think about this –
But, I have been asked by my friends, oh so many times,
“You must be missing your children so much…”

To which I would reply –
“Yes….”

And silently I would say to myself –
“Yes…I miss the smell of their hair…"

Because…

It is their hair that I smell
When they kiss my hands and I lean over to hug them…

It is their hair that I smell
When I lie down beside them,
When I twirl their hair,
When I kiss them goodnight
Every night…

It is their hair that I smell
When they wake up in the morning
And when I have to carry my sleepy-eyed babies into the shower…

It is their hair that I smell
When I help them get into their tops
When their heads struggle to get through those tight collars…

It is their hair that I smell
When I bend down beside them to help them tie their shoe-laces…

It is their hair that I smell
When they hurt themselves
And I give them a hug
When I try to comfort them…

It is their hair that I smell
Every time we say goodbye
When I hug, kiss, and finally let go of them…

The last thing that I would remember of every parting moment –
Would be the smell of their hair…

And because of that –
It is their hair that I smell…
in my dreams…

I fully understand what u mean, dear. Well, at least with Hilman anyway (as your 2 daughters absolutely refused to sleep with their Ayah!). Miss that smell whenever I´m away. Hmmm...I guess it´s a different smell that I look forward to now then..in a couple of days!!! ;p

Dear Ayah,

I was deliberating whether to publish your comment or not : macam ada ciri-ciri yang perlu ditapis...HAHAHAHAHA!

Anyway, I'll take it at face value - no insinuations whatsoever. HAHAHAHAHA!

So, tomorrow I have to go to the spa and have the Turkish bath, followed by my manicure and pedicure appointment, go to the hair salon - do the whole works, so that I'll smell really nice... HAHAHAHAHA!

Winks*

P/S : Can tell that I'm in a VERY happy mood, eh?

Can´t believe I wrote that. Even worse..can´t believe you published that!!! Lol...

Dear Kata Tak Nak,

My prayers are with you and Arwah's family.

Take care.

Hola Senor.

Errr...do you need me to bring a banner of some sort with "AYAH" written on it? It has been a while - may be you have forgotten how I look like?! Hehehe...

I'm counting the seconds -

32 400...32 399...32 398...32 397...

Wanshana, my comment earlier tak keluarlah. Is there gonna be a family reunion? Kalau betul, I'm happy for you.

If I were to be away fr my kids, I think I'd miss their bau bucuk, bucuk masam. Belum ada ke org invent that bottle yg kita boleh store bau2an ni?

wanshana said...

Dear Mamamia,

Yes - tapi "separa" family reunion coz' only Ayah is arriving today for a short visit. But, no fret - I'm going back to Malaysia in 2 weeks time, Insya Allah!

Can't wait to smell my kids' hair again...I know they can be VERY masam, and all - but that's the best smell to us mothers, kan?!

Their smell bottled?! Hmmmm... cannot beat the original 'straight from their pores' perfume... ;D

Take care.

Hi there, dear..

Thank God for the internet...I'm able to be connected to you, otherwise boring sakan. Considering my flight won't be for another 2 1/2 hours yet, I have plenty of time to waste, even minus the time to queue for passport control and buy cheese for your flatmates.

Btw, am really missing da kidz :( Can't imagine how bad it has been for you...

Counting the seconds... :)

Dear wanshana

I guess we wont be "seeing" you at the chat room for a couple of days. :)

I know you gonna be busy with ayah.

Have fun, dear.

Dear K.Ena,

Thank you for your warm thoughts...

Yes, it has been pretty hard being away from the kids, but I am blessed to have Ayah and the rest of his family and mine back home to take care and tengok-tengokkan the kids while I'm here.

The fact that it is pretty cheap to call Malaysia from Newcasatle has made it possible for me to speak to the kids once or twice (sometimes more!)everyday, and somehow they don't really feel that I'm thousands of miles away. In a way, I'm glad that they are not missing me that much, and that they could go through their daily routines normally and not too affected by my absence.

Just the other day, I called to speak to them, and I was told off by Hilman, who said, "Mommy, why are you disturbing me? I'm doing my homework, you know?!" And another telling off from Hasya - "Mommy, can you be quick, please...I'm watching Bratz DVD!" HAHAHAHA!

So, K.Ena... even though I'm missing the smell of THEIR hair, in a way I'm glad that they are not missing the smell of MY hair that much...

Hope you managed to keep Adel and Shaira still while you get a whiff of the smell of their hair! ;D

Take care.

Dear K.Ton,

Thanks! Hehehe...

But, as you can see, I can still jenguk my blog during my 'hibernation' period... Papa Bear tengah qadha' all the sleep he had missed while he was in Malaysia, AND stocking up on all of the sleep that he will miss when he's back there nanti. HAHAHA!

And you know what else he's been busy doing - catching up with all of K.Ena's TWB postings! Hmmmm... When I'm back in Malaysia nanti, sure berebut PC ni... :D

I might get him to join our regular chat tomorrow, insya Allah (if he's NOT sleeping during my normal chat time that is!)

Take care, K.Ton.

I concur!
Smell of your children's hair will make you feel grounded.
At toddlerhood, apart from the hair, I like to smell her neck and tickle her tummy....Talk about physical therapy! ;-)

Have a good day with your loved one, Wan Shana...

I was in a dilemma whether to publish some of the comments - but thought, well...just for the fun of it - why not? Hahaha!

Yes, have been pretty busy and will be busier in the next one week or so. So, harapan yang agak tipis to see me in the chatroom. Insya Allah, will join the regulars again once Aunty dah settled everything in KL nanti, okay?

Dear Ayah,

Yes, most wonderful 5-6 days.

Thank you so much for packing my stuff, etc. I don't know how I would have been able to do all the packing, etc and at the same time have to tie all the loose ends in my work, had you not come to help! You're a gem, my dear...

Not long to go and I will be back with you and the kids! YIPPEEEE!!! Hmmmm...make sure they DON'T wash their hair before fetching me at KLIA, okay? I want to smell their sweaty hair!!! HAHAHA!
