Wow... that's a really interesting meal you have there! Macamana buat moussaka tu? Nak copy lah your berbuka menu. My kids would love it, for sure!

Hi Shana,

For me the novelty of gastronimical berbuka dah lepas. Now malas mood dah set in and the family will just have to normal dinner dishes.

Everyone, with the exception of Hilman and you (although not seen), seemed so layu one in the pics. Ponat bonar ke?

Wow Shana..

ITU you kata lazy?? To me lazy is when "Ok everybody, let's eat out!"
Memang tiada tandingannya..waima makan mee goreng mamak sekali pun...

Tapi kat Abu Dhabi ni terpaksa rajin sikit..adeii..apa nak buat!

BJ,

It's actually Spaghetti Bolognaise, but I added aubergines, canned button mushrooms, and some sun-dried tomatoes into the sauce.

So, it's an all-in-one meal : Carbo, protein, veges, fibres in one plate.

Heat up oil

Add 2 diced onions and sliced garlic till layu

Add minced meat - stir for about 10 minutes

Add Dolmio Traditional/Original Bolognaise Sauce - stir for about 5 mins

Add a bit of water - bring to boil

Add aubergines (cut into quarters) and canned button mushrooms (cut into halves) - simmer for 10 minutes

Add sun-dried tomatoes - stir and simmer for 5 minutes

Add salt and a bit of sugar mengikut rasa.

Siap :)

Selamat mencuba!

MTT,

Weekend is the only time I get to cook for the family, so, when I get the chance, I would just cook - even if it's a simple dish.

And I pantang if anak-anak mention what they want to eat - mesti nak kena usahakan (either beli or masak for them) :)

I made the Spaghetti Bolognaise/ Moussaka because Hilman had been asking for it.

I think last Sunday, the fact that we didn't go out and didn't do much - itu yang buat everybody so layu. Cuba hari tu gi jalan-jalan or shopping, sure segar kot?!

Waterlily,

Itu tahap paling malas la tu - sampai malas to even go out of the house to cari makan!

Nasib baik ingredients semua dah ada kat dalam peti sejuk/lemari. Almost everything came out of a packet or can.

The mashed potatoes pun was a request from Hilman (sejak 3 minggu lepas, I think!). I'm glad I finally managed to cook it for him :)

Errr...I don't see you as "rajin sikit" in Abu Dhabi. If you call what you've been doing thus far as "rajin sikit", I cannot imagine how it is when you "rajin banyak"! Hehehe!

Hi Wanshana, you really have a beautiful family. Good looking hubby too.Love his moustache and short lallang his chin, ha ha.
I kept a moustache before but my isteri says I look like a gangster, so habis cherita.

Wow! I love your dishes....I bet there were some very loud burpings too, ha ha.
Happy Ramadan, Wanshana, Lee.
ps, love your house decor.

Hi Uncle Lee,

Thanks for the compliments and Ramadhan wish :)

My hubby decided to keep a misai and a goatee/lalang coz' previously when he was without them, his patients didn't believe that he was a consultant! They insisted to be seen by a "more experienced" and "more qualified" cardiologist coz' without his misai and goatee he looked like he had just graduated from Med School! Hehehe!

(Also good for me, I don't have to worry whether he looks younger than me or not... Terancam woooo... Hahaha!)

Yes, there were loud burpings all around - you know how spaghetti can give some people bad case of wind! Hahaha!

Thanks re : the house decor - very simple decor for a smallish house :)

Take care, Uncle Lee.

Kak Shana...nice menu...u cook all that...wow...bulan puasa ni I only cook for Sahur, berdua jer kan...but now, I am getting bored of cooking for sahur already....but demi cik abang kannn...hehehe

BJ,

I punya recipe lagi sedap dari Jamie Oliver's kot?!! Hehehe!

This is the dish I normally masak and keep in the freezer masa exam week kat Uni dulu. Complete meal.

I just put the pasta + sauce in small containers and everytime nak makan just defrost sebekas and heat it up. Kalau seminggu exam, seminggu lah I makan benda Allah ni coz' tak nak buang masa memasak :)

Bella,

Banyak pahala memasak untuk Cik Abang masa sahur niii (which I don't get coz' sahur meals are prepared by my maid!)

It's not as hard as you might think. The spaghetti and sauce base both came from Dolmio, I tambah minced meat and veges ajer.

The Ayamas also came from a packet - and I just campak masuk kuali :)

Mashed potatoes - just boil potatoes with a bit of butter and salt, drain and then mash them with more butter and heated up fresh milk + pepper.

Gravy - heat butter, add blended onions, garlic and ginger. Add water and chicken stock cubes + oyster sauce sket + salt and pepper. Lastly add bancuhan tepung jagung to thicken it.

My kids said it's better than KFC's whipped potatoes. Hehehe!

So, you went westernlah ya on Sunday.

Last Sunday, we all berbuka at my parents', macam-macam ada.... Yg best tu, of cozlah, mum's cooking.

My spaghetti sauce, dulu I selalu guna Prego sauce, now I'm using Maggi ready mixed. Tapi kita tambah2lah sendiri ikut tekak masing2. So far, my kids love them. Tu yg penting....

i beg ur pardon?????? u call that simple????? harharharharhar! meh masak sket utk kite!

Ibu,

Haizal got the sun-dried tomatoes from one of his patients, from Turkey (the tomatoes, NOT the patient :))

Macam mana nak describe, eh? Errr...they're flattened dried tomatoes lah mek. Sekali pandang macm flattened dried chillies.

Not sure if your "Kedai" sells them - never tried to find them there.

Tak per lah, this Saturday I'll show you :)

Mamamia,

Western fusion la kot? Coz' like you I normally would suit kan dengan tekak Melayu kita :)

I ikut mood - sometimes Dolmio, sometimes Ragu. And then, modify and tambah apa-apa yang patut. So far, no complaints!

I used to cook western meal EVERY weekend, but dah lama tak buat. So, I took the opportunity to do it last weekend.

Tapi, kalau dah dapat masakan Mak, sure tak pandang pun all other food, western or not, kan? Hehehe...

wanshana said...

Bella,

No problem. You're welcome - my pleasure.

Selamat mencuba :)

Aiz,

Simple la tu, dek oiii!

Pasta sauce base dari botol Dolmio.

Spaghetti dari packet Dolmio

Hot & Spicy Chicken pun dari packet Ayamas.

Mashed potatoes - semua campak aje dalam periuk, lepas tu mash ajer :)

Nanti, insya Allah one day kita buat sesi masak-masak, okay? ;)
